Why shipping weight changes the decision
A spreadsheet usually shows the item before it shows the full parcel. Packaging, boxes, protective material, and consolidation can add weight or volume. Two rows with similar item prices can therefore create different shipment outcomes.
Weight is most useful as a comparison variable. Ask whether the heavier candidate earns that extra weight through clearer materials, better measurements, more useful construction, or a genuine feature you need. If not, the lighter or less bulky row may deserve the shortlist slot.

Before trusting a calculator estimate
This site does not provide a live calculator or current rate data. When you use a calculator elsewhere, check which country, route, carrier, billable-weight rule, currency, and date it uses.
Do not enter the item-only weight and treat the answer as final when packaging or volumetric weight may apply. Write the assumptions beside the estimate so you can update it when better information appears.
A useful estimate note
“Planning comparison only: packed weight, destination, method, and calculation date still need confirmation.” That note is more useful than a single unexplained number.
Why estimates are not guarantees
Rates, routes, carrier rules, packaging, dimensions, surcharges, and service availability can change. An estimate can help compare two spreadsheet rows; it cannot promise the final charge, delivery date, customs outcome, tax treatment, or acceptance of a parcel.
